How to turn pumpkin flesh into a few fun projects!

We are all about trying to come back to nature at Nathalie Bond. As this week marks out a week of Halloween celebrations and in turn lots of pumpkin carving, we thought we would share a few fun ways in which you can use the left-over pumpkin flesh and seeds so they don’t go to waste!

First of all, here’s a step by step guide to using your leftover pumpkin flesh:.

  1. After cutting off the top part of the pumpkin, scratch out the inner pulp with a spoon or and ice cream scooper.
  2. Once you have reached the whitish-coloured inner layer you are done scooping it out.
  3. After extracting the stringy fibres and seeds (don’t throw the seeds away), steam the pumpkin flesh over a pot of water for 30 minutes until tender.
  4. Then run the streamed flesh through a food processor or mash by hand. Add lemon juice to it.
  5. To store the leftover pumpkin flesh you can freeze them in containers or bags.

Then the fun begins…

Pumpkin Facemask

Have you thought about trying your own pumpkin facemask? Pumpkins are rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and zinc, which make them perfect to use for your skin. Follow the instructions below for your own pumpkin facemask –

½ a teaspoon of honey

¼ teaspoon of milk

Instructions

Step 1: Mix together ingredients and apply to your face (avoid eye area)

Step 2: Leave on for 10-15 minutes

Step 3: Rinse with warm water

Step 4: Apply some Nathalie Bond face oil or balm to finish off the treatment ;)

Pumpkin Pancakes

Or how about pumpkin pancakes? You can find loads of nice recipes online. But here is just one we found at somewhatsimple.com.  One of our little family traditions is pancakes on a Saturday, so you know what we will be trying out this Saturday!
