essential oil blends

Incase you didn't know much about essential oils, here is a summary of the essential oils used by Nathalie Bond in the making of the beautiful and gentle products we create, that have helped so many people with lots of different skin conditions.

Rose Geranium
Rose Geranium essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the Pelargonium Graveolens; the older the leaf, the stronger the rose aroma. The plant is native to the Cape Provinces and the Northern Provinces of South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Geranium helps in the treatment of acne, dermatitis, and skin diseases and is known to balance hormones and relieve stress.

We use rose geranium in our Bloom range.

Patchouli is often associated with the 1960s when it became the chosen fragrance of the hippy movement. It carries an earthy and rich scent that works well as a beautiful base note. It is a bushy herb of the mint family, native to Asia, South America and the Caribbean.

We use patchouli in our Bloom range.

Lavender’s floral notes have long been used in natural relaxation remedies, which is why we use it in bath salts. The University of Maryland Medical Centre suggests that lavender may slow the activity of the nervous system and improve sleep quality. Lavender is part of the mint family and is grown all over the world, including in Europe, Africa and Asia. It is known to relax, heal skin, improve sleep and brain function.

We use lavender in our Unwind Range.

Commonly used in Thai cooking, lemongrass is a herb that belongs to the grass family of Poaceae. As its name suggests, the essential oil’s scent strongly resembles that of lemons, which makes it a popular scent in natural skincare remedies and soy wax candles. Lemongrass is a source of essential vitamins and is known widely to boost energy.

We use lemongrass in our Glow Range.

Peppermint and Eucalytpus

Native to Europe, Peppermint is a cross between watermint and spearmint. Its sharp aroma makes it a popular scent in toothpaste, chewing gum, tea and skincare. Peppermint contains menthol, which has local anesthetic properties. There are hundreds of species of eucalyptus and most are native to Australia. The essential oil extracted from the leaves contains compounds that are natural disinfectants. These essential oils are also known to relieve joint pain, provide sinus care.

We use peppermint and eucalyptus in our Revive Range.

Grapefruit, Bergamot and Ylang Ylang

These essential oils are known to have a positive effect on immune health, blood flow and lifting mood.

We use grapefruit, bergamot and ylang ylang in our Sunshine Range.
